Course Description:
The BLS Healthcare Provider Course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-valve-mask device, and oxygen), use of an AED, and relief of a Foreign Body Airway Obstruction. The course is designed for healthcare providers who care for patients in a wide variety of settings, both in and out of hospital.
Certification Course Length: 4 hours
Renewal Course Length: Up to 4 hours
Skills Verification: 1 hour
Intended Audience:
Healthcare providers such as physicians, nurse, paramedics, EMTs, respiratory therapist, physical and occupational therapist, physician assistants, residents, fellows, or medical or nursing student; aides; medical or nursing assistants; and other allied health personnel.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate on a manikin the current sequences and techniques for CPR
- Use of an Automated Defibrillator
- Relief of foreign body airway obstruction for adult, child, and infant victims

Course Completion Requirements:
- Successful completion of a written exam
- Successful completion of skills verification
